Baby Doll embroidered top

Jul 18, 2017

Welp, it's Tuesday folks, and I've come to the realization that my summer is slipping away from me like sand in an hour glass⌛. #😩 It's really true what they say, the older you get, the faster time goes by. I remember as a kid feeling like summer would last forever and ever. Now, I blink my eyes and it's L-I-T-E-R-A-L-L-Y over.  It's already Christmas in Hobby Lobby, too soon my friends, too soon. Although, I am ready for the year to move along, because that means we will be getting closer and closer to our adoption, and getting to meet our sweet baby. I haven't talked about it much, mainly because we've been in the paper work phase which is 99.9 percent of an adoption. But once we are accepted by the agencies we've applied to and get to present to birth mothers it will all start to be real. Most days, it feels like we are getting nowhere. But I know, this is all going at God's pace and is in His timing. If you could, please join us in praying that God would have the child He wants us to have. That he/she's birth mother and father would be in agreement that this is the right decision for their child and that the birth mother and baby would be healthy.

In other news, I'm 30 and falling apart. I've only been 30 for 3 weeks and I've already had a sketchy mole lopped off and I have bursitis in my shoulder..like what? I thought only 80+ year olds got bursitis😑. I watch Netflix, and see the Fittest on Earth  documentary and think "hey, you're pretty fit Kate, you could do some of this stuff." No you can't Katie! You're a 30 year old grandma with bursitis! Agin' ain't for the faint of heart. But then again, no part of life was ever guaranteed to be easy. I just need to be a big girl, suck it up and deal, right? Right! This is not a rhetorical question.

Moovin' on…today's post is based around this presh, linen-y, baby-doll top with embroidery detail. Obvs, it came from J.Crew Factory, linked here. It is probably meant for petite people, which I am not in any way, lol. So, I had to go up about 2 sizes for it to not be too short or too tight through my shoulders. I love the lightweight material, great for the swampy, humidity we've been experiencing lately. The embroidery reminds me of smocking like all the fancy schmancy sunday dresses I used to wear as a kid. Let's talk about these white jeans for a minute. I usually have a love/hate relationship with white jeans. What I mean by that, is I love them but I hate myself, because I always get them dirty within seconds of putting them on. However, these have scotch guard or something built into the fibers, it's science people. Old Navy this year came out with stain resistant white jeans, and they've restored my hope in humanity that I can own white jeans and maintain their purity. My pair is linked here.

My shoes I've worn in other posts, they are dupes of designer version, linked here. For open toe, wedge, espadrilles they are super comfy and the camel color is versatile and goes with so much. If you're in the market, I highly recommend. My earrings are beaded tassels from J. Crew factory, linked here. I like that these have clip closure on the back, it helps them stay put better than other tassel earrings I have. This outfit is super simple, nothing too flashy, nothing to crazy. It's like the goldilocks of outfits, juuuust right. Hope you like it!

  1. So happy to hear that you're adopting!!!!!!!! Also, falling apart after 30 is no joke. Since turning the big 3-0, I have had a shoulder injury that still nags me, tore muscles in my forearm, and was diagnosed with tendinitis in both my knees, which means I walk like a grandma when I first stand up! But I'm still kickin' (just not quite as high-I'm liable to throw a hip out or something).
